The start-up will disappear into Cisco’s Data Center Group run by SVP David Yen

Cisco's biz dev chief Hilton Romanski said in a blog posting Monday that Cisco has acquired a pre-launch stealth start-up called Virtuata that got started in 2010 and is supposed to be good at virtual machine security.

Thus armed, customer deployments of multi-tenant multi-hypervisor cloud infrastructures are supposed to accelerate.

The start-up will disappear into Cisco's Data Center Group run by SVP David Yen.

Virtuata got $6 million from somewhere last year. Acquisition terms weren't disclosed.

One of its founders Peter Danzig was working at Ironport when Cisco bought it in 2007.
